As I contemplated my move back to New York, I couldn’t help but wonder…would it be dope to copy Carrie’s decor in my new apartment? Or would that just make me a dope?
One thing that always surprised me about Carrie Bradshaw’s style was her apartment. For someone who dressed so outrageously, she sure had understated taste when it came to decor. Her place was casual, comfortable, and warm. It felt lived-in, and nothing was too precious. You wouldn’t want to to spill your drink on her mesh shirt or giant flower pin, but no problem if something gets on the sofa.
I’m hoping to move back to NYC in a couple months, and have been thinking a lot about my next place. Do I want to go with a particular style inspiration? Or just assemble all kindsa stuff that just feels right? I’m still not sure yet, so in the meantime I’m collecting inspiration. In terms of Carrie’s apartment, that means a lot of mid-century modern, Danish influences, neutral colors and blues, wood furniture, and a touch of shabby chic.
